Batam Itinerary 3D2N: A Day-by-Day Plan Around the Ferry
Stay in one base, give one long day to the Barelang road and Camp Vietnam, and do not plan around the final boat home.

At a glance
- Horizon's first HarbourFront to Harbour Bay sailing is 08:15 Singapore time and its last back is 20:30 Batam time (read 6 Nov 2026).
- BatamFast's return is S$76 with all fees included, at every age.
- BP Batam says the Barelang chain has six bridges and runs about 50km end to end.
- Horizon lists a car with driver at S$70 for 10 hours.
Three days and two nights is enough for Batam if you stay in one base. Spend the first day in the city, give the second to the Barelang road and Camp Vietnam, and keep the third for a massage, a mall and an evening ferry. This Batam itinerary 3D2N plan is built around the ferry times.
Is 3 days and 2 nights enough for Batam?
Yes, as long as you do not change hotels. The Barelang chain runs about 50km end to end, so one long day out and back is simpler than packing and moving. If you only have one night, use our 48-hour plan instead. For a single day, see our day trip guide.
Mind the clock. Batam is one hour behind Singapore, and every published sailing time is local to its departure port.
Choose your base by ferry terminal
Pick the terminal first, then the hotel. Our where to stay guide and hotel list cover each area.
| Base | Route | First sailing (Singapore time) | Last sailing back (Batam time) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Batam Centre | HarbourFront to Batam Centre | 07:40, BatamFast | 20:35 Majestic, 20:30 BatamFast, 20:20 Sindo |
| Harbour Bay, for Nagoya | HarbourFront to Harbour Bay | 08:15, Horizon | 20:30, Horizon |
| Nongsa, for a resort | Tanah Merah to Nongsapura | 08:00, BatamFast | 20:00, BatamFast |
We read these times on 5 and 6 November 2026, and Horizon says schedules can change without notice. Check the full timetable before you book.
Check your Singapore terminal too. Horizon moved to the Singapore Cruise Centre Terminal and Sindo moved to the new HarbourFront Ferry Terminal from 15 July 2026, so older directions may be out of date.
Day 1: arrive, shop and eat
Take a morning sailing so that you land before lunch. Drop your bags, then stay close to your base.
- In Batam Centre: Mega Mall has a bridge to the ferry terminal, which helps if your room is not ready.
- In Nagoya: Grand Batam Mall and Nagoya Hill are the obvious stops. Our malls guide says which suits what.
- For dinner: use our seafood guide, or halal food in Batam if you need it.
Keep this day light. Day 2 starts early.
Day 2: Barelang bridges and Camp Vietnam
This is the day to hire a driver. Horizon lists a car with a dedicated driver at S$70 for 10 hours, all in. Our getting around guide covers other options.
BP Batam describes Barelang as six bridges linking Batam, Rempang and Galang, built from 1992 to 1998. Stop at the first bridge, then keep going south.
At the far end is the former Vietnamese refugee camp on Galang. BP Batam says the UN built it through UNHCR on 80 hectares, and that it held more than 250,000 refugees from 1979 to 1996. BP Batam now runs the old camp buildings as a history site.
We could not confirm the camp's current hours or ticket price from an official page, so ask your driver to check before you set off. Our Barelang day trip guide has seafood stops for the way back.
Day 3: massage, layer cake and the ferry
Check out late if you can, and book a treatment near your terminal.
- Spa Central lists a 60-minute traditional massage at Rp 270,000 and warns of a peak surcharge on long weekends and public holidays.
- Kalea Spa is open from 10am to 10pm daily, about five minutes from Batam Centre terminal. It offers free two-way pick-up within Batam Centre, Harbour Bay and Nagoya, with a Rp 600,000 condition, so ask what your booking qualifies for.
Our spa guide has more. Buy gifts last: the ferry terminal counters list their hours, and SFA's food rules decide what can come home.
Do not plan around the final boat. BatamFast advises getting there at least an hour ahead and wants you at its pre-immigration gate half an hour before sailing. For its 20:30 sailing, that means being at the terminal by 19:30 Batam time. We would book one sailing earlier on a Sunday, so a late car does not cost you the trip.
What the fixed parts cost
We cannot give one total, because room and meal costs vary widely. These are the parts operators publish, for two adults:
| Item | Published price | For two |
|---|---|---|
| Return ferry, BatamFast, all fees included | S$76 each | S$152 |
| Car and driver, one day, Horizon | S$70 | S$70 |
| 60-minute massage, Spa Central | Rp 270,000 each | Rp 540,000 |
| Total before hotel, food and entry fees | S$222 + Rp 540,000 |
Compare ferry fares after fees. Sindo's S$56 return excludes a S$10 Singapore departure fee and a Rp 100,000 or S$10 Batam terminal fee, and its page also lists a temporary fuel surcharge. Add your room from our hotels page, then use the trip planner or our budget guide for the rest.
If you have kids, or it rains
Camp Vietnam is a history stop, so small children may prefer a shorter Day 2. Swap in Taman Rusa in Sekupang, where BP Batam says visitors can feed the deer. Its 2023 notice put entry at Rp 5,000 on weekdays, and Rp 10,000 for adults or Rp 5,000 for children and students at weekends. Those figures are old, so confirm them.
Children cost the same as adults on some ferries: BatamFast's price applies to all ages, and Horizon charges children and infants the adult rate. See Batam with kids and our family weekend plan.
If rain is heavy on Day 2, skip the open road. Spend the day in Batam's malls and at a spa, and read our guide to the best time to visit Batam before you pick your dates.
Before you leave home
MFA says Singapore passport holders can stay up to 30 days visa-free as tourists, and that rules can change at short notice. Immigration requires an arrival card within three days before arrival. Our entry requirements guide has the details, and is Batam safe? covers what to watch for.
Questions people ask
Is 3 days and 2 nights enough for Batam?+
Yes, if you stay in one base. That gives you a city day, one long day on the Barelang road to Galang, and a slower last day with a massage and gift shopping before an evening ferry. Changing hotels in two nights costs more time than it saves.
What is the last ferry home from Batam?+
On the timetables read in November 2026, the last Batam Centre sailings to HarbourFront left at 20:35 with Majestic, 20:30 with BatamFast and 20:20 with Sindo, all Batam time. Horizon's last from Harbour Bay left at 20:30. Check again before you book, and aim for one sailing earlier.
Do I need a driver for all three days?+
We would hire one only for the Barelang day, on a road that runs about 50km end to end. Horizon lists a car with driver at S$70 for 10 hours. On the other two days you stay near your base, so short rides are usually enough.
