Seafood is the meal most visitors cross to Batam for. If you are Muslim, the harder question is not where to eat but whether the kitchen is halal. We went through every seafood restaurant we list, 42 in total, and wrote down the halal status our records show for each one. All of them are on the map further down.
The honest headline: none of the 42 is recorded as halal-certified in our data (checked 2 November 2026). A few say they use no pork or lard. Most have no halal record at all. That does not mean they are not halal. It means you should check at the table, and this guide shows you how.
How to read the labels in this list
- No pork or lard (Eatbook): the food guide Eatbook says the restaurant uses no pork or lard. That is the restaurant's own claim, not a halal certificate.
- Halal menu noted: a tour site, Batam Excursion, notes a halal menu.
- Alcohol served: our records say beer or cocktails are on the menu.
- Unknown: we have no halal record. Ask the restaurant.
To check a real certificate, scan the QR code on the halal label or search the name on the government register at info.halal.go.id. Our halal food guide explains the labels, and our tips for ordering seafood cover the questions to ask.
